Middle school QB Julian Lewis impressed by Georgia gameday experience
Carrolton, Ga., eighth-grader Julian Lewis has yet to play a snap of varsity high school football. There has been buzz about the young signal caller’s college potential for years in the state of Georgia.
Lewis, who is 5-foot-11 and 175 pounds, traveled to Athens where he watched Georgia roll past UAB 56-7 on Saturday.
Lewis doesn’t have any offers as of now, but he’s already getting a feel for a few schools he hopes will have interest in the future. He had never been to a Georgia football game before Saturday.
“The atmosphere was amazing,” Lewis said “The crowd. The music and the players. I’ve never seen anything like it. I was at Georgia Tech last week, so it was great to be able to compare them in back-to-back weeks.”
Georgia senior quarterback Stetson Bennett tied the school’s passing touchdown record in just over two quarters of work on Saturday.
There were plenty of big plays along the way and enough to wow Lewis in the stands.
“They aired UAB out,” Lewis said. “The coaches really moved the ball around. It was explosive.”
Lewis was alongside a few of his teammates from Carrolton on Saturday. He got a little motivational push from being in the atmosphere.
