Virginia running back Mike Hollins is undergoing a second procedure after he was involved in a shooting on UVA’s campus late Sunday night, his mother said via Twitter. He’s one of two Cavaliers players in critical condition after the shooting, which claimed the lives of three players.

Hollins, a redshirt junior, underwent an initial surgery Monday to remove the bullet and the second procedure is to look at his abdominal cavity and kidneys for potential damage, according to Sports Illustrated’s Ross Dellenger.

“Family, Mike will be going in for his 2nd surgery at 8am,” Hollins’ mother, Brenda, tweeted Tuesday morning. “Keep praying!!! And please keep praying for all of the families that are going through this horrific tragedy.”

Through nine games this season, Hollins has rushed 53 times for 215 yards and two touchdowns while adding eight receptions for 114 additional yards in the air.

During a vigil on UVA’s campus Monday night, a Virginia football player gave an update, via Sports Illustrated’s Ross Dellenger, on Hollins, who is recovering from surgery which was performed on him Monday to remove one bullet from his stomach.

“Be with Mike as he fights,” the unidentified Virginia player prayed. “Put your hands of healing over him, Lord.”

According to the Washington Post, the father of Hollins, Michael Hollins Jr., confirmed earlier in the day that his son was wounded in the incident. He told the Washington Post that his son was shot in the back and a bullet was lodged in his stomach, but that he was in stable condition on Monday morning.
