4-star Mikey Lewis starts talking visits
Mikey Lewis jumped to No. 59 in the recent 2024 On3 150 ranking update. The 6-foot-2 guard led Nike’s Peach Invitational Tournament (P.I.T.) in scoring, averaging 23.7 points and 2.7 assists while shooting 35.2 percent from thee on 2.8 makes per game. Lewis announced this summer he will transfer to Napa (CA) Prolific Prep for his senior season.
“I’m a scoring guard, but I can create for others too,” Lewis told On3. “I’ve been in the gym since the season ended, and I’m really paying attention to the little things this summer. I think that has added to my confidence and why I’m playing how I am right now.”
On3 caught up with four-star Mikey Lewis after a recent live viewing to talk about his recruitment.
Lewis talks recruitment
I haven’t set any visits yet, I should be soon, though,” Lewis said. “Some schools are still jumping in (Washington, Ole Miss, and Kansas offered recently). Illinois, San Diego State, Syracuse, LSU, and St. Mary’s have been on me the hardest, I’d say.”
Illinois: “My relationship is really good with Coach Cheser Frazier. He has become really close with me and my family. They have a tradition of winning there, and they give guards freedom to play like I like to play. I want to be a part of something like that.”
Syracuse: “They’re transitioning from Coach (Jim) Boeheim right now, but Coach Brenden Straughn has been really active in my recruitment.”
LSU: “Coach (Matt) McMahon had Ja Morant when he was at Murray State. That’s a great coach to have, to play for, as far as guards go.”

St. Mary’s: “They’re really close to me and my family. They’ve been one of the longest schools actively recruiting me, and they show up everywhere to see me. They saw me at Peach Jam and at the Top 100.”
San Digo State: “They’ve been active with me for the longest, and we’ve formed a good relationship, my family with their staff.”
In his words
“I want to take all my visits before my season starts,” Lewis said. “And I’d like to sign on National Signing Day, in the early period, is when I plan on it right now.
I want to go somewhere I feel like I can become a pro. That is the biggest thing for me is being a pro, so I want to go to a school where I feel like we can make that happen. I’m open to a school playing me on the ball so I can develop or using me off the ball where I’m strong.”
