Mississippi State adds 2023 4-star RB commit Ty Jones
Ty Jones, one of the top juniors in Mississippi, is staying home.
Jones, a 6-foot-1, 202-pound four-star running back from Bay Springs, Miss., announced on Friday that he was committed to Mississippi State. He picked the Bulldogs over offers from Ole Miss, Indiana, Southern Miss and heavy interest from other SEC programs.
“I have always dreamed about playing college football since I was little and can’t believe I have the opportunity to do that,” Jones said in a tweet announcing his commitment.
“I’d like to thank my friends, brothers and teammates for pushing me and never letting me give up on myself. With that being said, I will be taking my talents and committing to Mississippi State.”
Ty Jones is ranked as the No. 213 player in the country, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. Jones is the No. 14 running back in the country and the fourth-ranked player in Mississippi.

On3 ranks Ty Jones a little bit higher – at No. 175 in the country and No. 8 at running back.
Ty Jones is the only known commitment for Mississippi State and coach Mike Leach in the 2023 class.
However, the Bulldogs’ 2022 class is currently at No. 26 in the country and 11th in the SEC. MSU does not currently have a running back committed in the 2022 class.
