Mississippi State will have to move forward without one of its top defensive linemen.

Defensive end Jordan Davis, who suffered an injury during the Bulldogs’ scrimmage this past weekend, has a torn ACL and will miss the 2021 season, sources told On3. An MRI confirmed the injury.

Davis, a former Alabama signee, joined Mississippi State last year after two seasons at Copiah-Lincoln Community College (Miss.) and had appeared set for a breakthrough year this season. He posted 22 tackles in nine games as a reserve in 2020.

Now, the Bulldogs will likely turn to UCF transfer Randy Charlton, who was already expected to be a big part of the team’s defensive line rotation, to step into that spot as a first-team defensive end.
