Missouri might only have two early commitments in its 2026 football recruiting class, but the Tigers are in hot pursuit of a couple major quarterback targets.

Among them is Warrington (Pa.) La Salle College four-star passer Gavin Sidwar, who was originally supposed to visit the Tigers in March but had to cancel due to weather issues. He finally made it to his scheduled visit this week as Eli Drinkwitz and Co. look to close on one of the country’s top available quarterbacks in the class senior class.

The one-time Rutgers commit previously named Mizzou, Ole Miss, Syracuse, Iowa and UCLA as finalists. The Orange since flipped three-star QB Zaid Lott from North Carolina, while Ole Miss added a pledge from three-star QB Rees Wise on Monday evening.

The Tigers are recently hosted four-star Jett Thomalla, who also named them in his top five schools. Mizzou looks to be a contender for both, while Iowa and Iowa State are also high on the list for Thomalla. Last cycle, Drinkwitz and Co. landed four-star QB Matt Zollers, a top-100 prospect out of Pennsylvania and potential signal-caller of the future in CoMo.

Whether he ends up in Missouri’s class or not, Sidwar knows what it will take to get his commitment.

Stability, development are key for Missouri’s pursuit of Sidwar

“Important things to me are the offense, the staff, the support around the quarterback position and the stability of the head coach,” he told On3’s Chad Simmons earlier this month. I need to trust that I can be developed both on and off the field so I can maximize my potential not only as a player, but also and more importantly, as a person. I need to feel comfortable with the school and the campus and make sure it’s a place that can feel like home.”

Sidwar is the No. 247 overall prospect and No. 16 QB in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 8 player in Pennsylvania.

As a junior, Sidwar broke multiple school records at LaSalle, throwing for 2,747 passing yards on 220 completions. LaSalle finished the season with a 10-1 record and ranked as the No. 33 team in the nation and No. 2 team in Pennsylvania, per the On3 Composite.
