Another player from the Missouri Tigers 2023-24 men’s basketball team has opted to find a new home for next season. On3 has learned that the Tigers’ point guard, Kaleb Brown, has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal.

Brown played high school basketball for Lee High School in Huntsville, AL. He was a member of the 2021 recruiting cycle; however, he did not receive a ranking from On3’s industry rankings, which is a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Brown has struggled to find playing time during his three-year stay with the Tigers. He saw the most action in his freshman year, as he played in 27 games and earned one start. Last season, Brown played in just two games for Missouri after suffering a season-ending injury early in the year. Prior to that, in the 2022- 23 season, he played in just 11.

For his career at Missouri, he averaged just 9 minutes a game and less than one point (0.9) per contest.

Missouri formally announces Memphis’ Laird Veatch as new athletics director

While Missouri may have lost Brown’s services, it did acquire a significant piece in terms of the program’s success and future going forward, not just men’s college basketball but Missouri athletics as a whole. Earlier Tuesday, the Tigers formally announced that Laird Veatch had been hired as the new athletics director.

It was previously reported that Veatch was Missouri’s target to come over from Memphis to Missouri.

Veatch spent six years at Missouri in a variety of roles from 1997-2002, including as a development coordinator. Now he is back there.

“AD Veatch is a proven leader with the vision we need to achieve our championship goals,” University of Missouri President Mun Choi said in a statement. “I want to thank Curator Blitz and the search committee for identifying the right leader to build upon the incredible momentum of Mizzou Athletics. I also want to thank interim director Marcy Girton for her service and commitment to Mizzou Athletics.”

Laird Veatch had served as Memphis’ athletic director since October of 2019, and was elevated to the title of Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics in June of 2021. He previously held the executive associate AD position at Florida from 2017 until his departure to Memphis in 2019.

“The opportunity to return to the University of Missouri and to Columbia is truly incredible for me and my family,” Veatch said in a statement. “I am grateful to President Choi, the Board of Curators and the members of the search committee for believing in me and in the future of Mizzou Athletics.
