Peter Burns was in CoMo this weekend for Boston College vs. Missouri on Saturday. However, the night before could have been much different for him if not for some help from a nearby Tiger fan.

Burns shared in a thread on Twitter on Monday that he couldn’t breathe while choking on a piece of food at dinner with team members of the SEC Network on Friday. After several people tried to help him dislodge it, Jack Foster was able to successfully save him.

“While at dinner w/ our SEC Network crew, I began to choke on a piece of food. Immediately I knew it was serious and motioned to our table that I couldn’t breathe,” wrote Burns. “At around 2 mins in, is when I start to lose my vision & I start blacking out. It was surreal is I could hear everyone talking & doing everything they could to help. But nothing was working Right as I was about to lose consciousness, Jack Foster (the 4th person to try) tried.”

“Mr Foster was a youth sports coach & told us later that he had just gone through training for his teams on how to do both CPR & save someone from choking. That training is why I am here right now. I’m thankful for him and all involved that helped saved my life that night,” continued Burns. “Want to give a shout out as well to the @MizzouFootball trainers who helped me that night as well.”

Burns ended up with slight fractures in four of his ribs from the attempts but has been fine since.

This could have been much more serious as Burns nearly passed out from the incident. Foster was able to save him, though, with the analyst for the Southeastern Conference obviously being incredibly thankful for it.
