Mouhamed Sylla, an elite center prospect in the 2025 class, is down to three schools, he told On3. Moving forward, the 6-foot-10 senior out of Bella Vista Prep (AZ) will consider Arkansas, Georgia Tech, and Oregon.

Sylla, On3’s No. 13 overall recruit and the No. 1 ranked center in the country, has taken official visits to each of his finalists.

He previously considered offers from Kansas and Washington.

Sylla talks programs involved

In a previous interview with On3, Sylla discussed the schools recruiting him.

ARKANSAS: “The thing I liked about Arkansas, is when they finished practice, the coach takes like all of the players and they all go over to his house. And they rest and all hang out together. I don’t really know Coach (John) Calipari before my visit (*note, Sylla is from Senegal and played previously in San Luis Potosí, Mexico), but I see and I hear that he has had a lot of NBA players. A lot of big men playing in the NBA.”

OREGON: “I love the coach over there, that is my guy. He is so funny, and I haven’t seen another coach with that much energy. He texts me like everyday, just asking how I’m doing. I’ve watched them play a few times, they’re pretty good. I like how they play their big man, they get him good looks and all. And they come to watch me, the head Coach (Dana) Altman is here with an assistant tonight.”

GEORGIA TECH: “I love Coach (Karl) Hobbs. I know that everyday that I have my phone, I know that he is going to text me and ask how I’m doing. When I went on my visit there, they had some food from Senegal for me there, so that was cool. The trip there was great, I got to see Baye Ndongo. He is from Senegal and played for Senegal with me.”

What he’s looking for in a school

In that same previous interview with On3, Sylla noted what he is looking for in a college program.

“For the school I am going to commit to, I am looking for just two things. I want to go play for a coach who can help me get to the league, develop me. I’m also looking at the academics. Everyday my mom is on me about academics, the first thing she asks is about the school and the academics. So that is why I care about school.

Scouting Report

“Mouhammed Sylla’s best attribute might be that he always seems to be around the ball. Sylla tracks well in and out of his area, both with rebounding and on the defensive end. Defensively, he has some intriguing versatility. Sylla is capable of sliding his feet and turning his hips with perimeter-based forwards. He is also good in the passing lanes and he can protect the rim both on and off the ball. The frame along with the instincts give him an interesting ceiling on defense. Offensively, Sylla shows some nice flashes. He is best when facing the basket and playing toward the rim. He attempts to dunk everything he catches within five feet of the basket. The 6-foot-10 center rolls well toward the rim and he plays out of the dunker areas, providing vertical floor spacing. He also has some face-up skills off the bounce. Ripping through from the high post and getting to the rim on two or three dribbles. He needs to continue developing the jump shot, tightening the skill set, and working on the reads and processing aspect. But the tolls are there. The current production is already in place. The flashes are a little loose, but they provide an intriguing ceiling.” – On3’s Jamie Shaw
