Mount Miguel (Calif.) WR Parris Vernon commits to San Jose State

Mount Miguel (Calif.) has had big news coming out of the program on a regular basis this year. A lot of eyes are on five-star cornerback Brandon Arrington every visit he takes, but recently we saw wide receiver AJ Logan commit to Boise State and now we have wide receiver Parris Vernon commit to San Jose State.
Vernon is a 5-foot-10, 160-pound rising senior with over a dozen offers and he committed to Spartans over the likes of Hawaii, Northern Arizona and UNLV.
“I love the staff, it’s everything I was looking for,” Vernon told On3. “They made me feel like family and I felt like I was home when I was out there. Coach Stutzmann is everything I want in my receiver coach and I can’t wait for him to mentor me.
“I love the offense too. What they run is very similar to what I run now at Mount Miguel. I could easily picture myself doing big things at San Jose State and putting up huge numbers. Seeing a receiver like Nick Nash just come out of there gives me motivation. If I stick to the plan they have for me, the sky will be the limit.”

Location played into the decision too. Vernon was looking for that feeling and San Jose State made him feel right at home.
“I went out there for a multi-day visit and I loved every single thing about it.” Vernon added. “The campus, coaches and schedule all stood out. The atmosphere was very competitive, but it also felt like a brotherhood at the same time.
“I’ll most likely be back out there for the spring game and I will go on my official visit in late May or early June.”
