Mykel Williams, Tate Ratledge injury update: Georgia stars' status revealed on Wednesday injury report
As Auburn and Georgia prepare to renew the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry, both teams have a handful of players on the injury report that are worth mentioning.
That number starts with Georgia edge rusher Mykel Williams, who is nursing a sprained ankle but managed to play in a limited capacity last weekend against Alabama. Having him available would be huge for Georgia’s chances. However, the Bulldogs appear to be going forward without Smael Mondon. He appeared on the availability report as “out,” but no reason has been given for the decision.
In any case, both programs will be hoping to get a few key players back ahead of a very important conference showdown.
Both teams are coming off a tough loss, sporting a lead late in the fourth quarter only to watch it slip away at the very end. Neither team will want one loss to turn into two, so the health of the players on the injury report as game time draws nearer will be key.
Let’s get to the injury report.
- DB Tyler Scott – Out
- DB Champ Anthony – Out
- TE Brandon Frazier – Out
- OL Izavion Miller – Questionable
- S Jerrin Thompson – Probable
- LB Dorian Mausi – Out
- LB Jalen McLeod – Probable

- WR London Humphreys – Out
- OL Tate Ratledge – Out
- DL Mykel Williams – Questionable
- WR Sacovie White – Questionable
- DL Jordan Hall – Questionable
- OL Jared Wilson – Questionable
Two Georgia defensive linemen on the mend
We noted above that Mykel Williams was recovering from an ankle injury and figured to appear on Wednesday night’s injury report. Earlier in the day on Wednesday, coach Kirby Smart provided an update.

“Mykel’s coming along nicely. He’s still sore. He’s going to be sore on it. That’s to be understood,” Smart said. “When you go play on that and return from that injury, you have to deal with some pain and deal with the soreness and he’s done a tremendous job with rehab and we’ve done a really good job of trying to get him back, get him ahead of schedule each week.”
Meanwhile, fellow defensive lineman Jordan Hall is also on the mend.
Hall is working his way back from a dual-leg lower-body injury, something that has complicated his recovery process. Still, he’s inching closer to a return.
“Yeah Jordan’s continuing to progress and working hard,” Smart said on the SEC coaches teleconference. “He does indy drills, he takes reps. Even with a little bit of pain there. And he’s just trying to get comfortable to tolerate that. I mean, it’s a very unique thing where you had both legs, not just one, which that’s compounding the issue a little bit for him.”
The SEC mandates that teams provide an injury report on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday before games. On3 will have a write-up on each of those releases.
