Oak Park (Ill.) Fenwick On300 defensive lineman Nate Marshall has flipped his commitment from Michigan to Auburn.

Another big win on the trail for head coach Hugh Freeze and his staff as the 6-foot-4, 265-pound Marshall ranks as the On3 Industry’s No. 5 defensive lineman and No. 56 prospect overall.

Marshall had been a verbal to the Wolverines since April, but led by the efforts of defensive line coach Vontrell King-Williams, Auburn never away. He took multiple visits to campus including a game last year, a return in April for the spring game and an official in June after his commitment to the Maize and Blue.

The four-star Marshall adds to an Auburn class On3 previously ranked No. 6 nationally. He becomes commit No. 23 in the 2025 cycle.

“Their commitment to players as a whole!” Marshall has said about what stands out about Auburn. “Of course there’s football talk but that’s just one piece so to hear that from Coach Freeze and Coach Vontrell was different. They want to pour into players’ entirety not just as an athlete and I think with that mindset it’ll carryover to on the field success.”

The strength of this Auburn class to date is what they’re doing on the defensive front. Marshall joins edge rusher Jared Smith (ranked No. 43 nationally) and defensive lineman Malik Autry (No. 75) as a few of the jewels of the cycle.

Marshall is also the third high-profile flip in 2025 for Auburn alongside athlete Derick Smith (No. 54) who backed off Alabama and running back Alvin Henderson (No. 154) who did the same with Penn State.

Freeze and company will also be looking for a few more flips. Notre Dame quarterback commit Deuce Knight and Ohio State five-star cornerback verbal Na’eem Offord are two of the biggest fish. They’ll keep swinging on Alabama five-star receiver commit Caleb Cunningham as well.

Auburn will be a program to watch as the 2025 cycle continues with likes of five-star offensive tackle Andrew Babalola still in play as well.

Marshall comes from terrific pedigree. His mother Khara played at DePaul where she is now in their Hall of Fame, and his grandfather Ken Norman, played at Illinois before enjoying a lengthy career in the NBA.
