The latest 2023 College Football Playoff National Championship odds were revealed ahead of Week 3 of the season.

Week 2 opened up some eyes, particularly with Texas’ upset of Alabama on the road. That vastly increased the Longhorns’ national title odds going into the new weekend. But there are a few teams ahead.

Below are the current national championship odds going into Week 3, courtesy of FanDuel.

Georgia (+230)

Nothing changed here for the most part. Georgia is the favorite until, well, it’s not the favorite to win a third straight national championship.

Carson Beck looks the part, but the Bulldogs go into SEC play with South Carolina this coming weekend. With a stout defense, Georgia is the top “dawg” until someone knocks them off. Good luck rest of college football.

Michigan (+460)

(Junfu Han / USA TODAY NETWORK)

The Wolverines can win without Jim Harbaugh so that must mean they’re the best team in college football. Well not quite. But it’s impressive to see Michigan not miss a beat without the head coach on game days.

JJ McCarthy looks even better through two games this season. Blake Corum back healthy has got to feel good for the running game as well. Plus, the defense only gave up a combined 10 points through two weeks.

Texas (+1,000)

(Aaron E. Martinez-USA TODAY NETWORK)

The Longhorns went into Tuscaloosa and upset the Crimson Tide to soar into the top four of the AP Poll. And for good reason, Texas earned it.

Quinn Ewers was dynamic against Alabama, Xavier Worthy and AD Mitchell couldn’t be stopped and Steve Sarkisian was only the third former Nick Saban assistant to beat the boss. This team is for real after two games.

Florida State (+1,000)

(Alicia Devine/Tallahassee Democrat / USA TODAY NETWORK)

The Seminoles have the same odds as the Longhorns after two dominant games. Beating LSU was the highlight over the first two weeks for Florida State, but the team isn’t slowing down any time soon.

Jordan Travis is a bonafide Heisman Trophy candidate and has plenty of weapons around him. The Seminoles are by far and away the best team in the ACC, and it might not be close right now. Still a lot of football to play though.

Ohio State (+1,100)

(Joseph Maiorana-USA TODAY Sports)

The Buckeyes seem to have their quarterback now: Kyle McCord looked much better. He found Marvin Harrison Jr. and other weapons as Ohio State looked much improved compared to the win over Indiana Week 1.

As long as the Buckeyes continue on this ascension, they’ll be the top challenger to Michigan in the Big Ten. And doing so could get them into the College Football Playoff and another crack at the national title.

USC (+1,600)

(Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports)

USC’s odds are greater than Ohio State at the moment, presumably, based on history. Because right now, that offense looks unstoppable with Caleb Williams gunning for the CFP and a second Heisman Trophy.

Through three games, it seems really difficult to find a flaw in the Trojans’ attack. Plus the defense seems to have modest improvements. We didn’t even get to dynamic freshman Zachariah Branch, who’s as good as advertised.

Penn State (+1,700)

(William Bretzger-Delaware News Journal / USA TODAY NETWORK)

The Nittany Lions are cruising right now and if it weren’t for Michigan and Ohio State, the Big Ten might be a cakewalk for Penn State this season. That’s how good the team looks right now.

Drew Allar settled into his role as the starting quarterback and the run game was stout through two games featuring Kaytron Allen and Nick Singleton. The odds might get shorter as we get through the season.

Notre Dame (+2,200)

(Rob Kinnan-USA TODAY Sports)

Let’s not forget about the 3-0 Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Getting Sam Hartman had to be one of the best transfer portal gets across college football right?

The quarterback is firmly in early Heisman Trophy contention by adding a new dimension to the Fighting Irish offense. The Ohio State game in two weeks will be a huge test, as well as games against Duke and USC. National title? Maybe.

Next group of contenders

Alabama (+3,300)
Oregon (+4,000)
Washington (+4,000)
Tennessee (+4,000)
LSU (+4,500)
Oklahoma (+4,500)

The next group of contenders could certainly make a move and of course, all eyes will be on Alabama for the remainder of the year despite the loss to Texas. But it’s still early so expect these odds to drastically changed over the course of the next few weeks.
