Providence, Rhode Island – Teams from all over the world gathered at Rhode Island College for the 24th Annual National Prep School Invitational.

With games starting at 9:00 AM and going until 11:00 PM, the intrigue of the day came with the NBA Academy teams playing. NBA Academy Africa is loaded with D-I prospects, led by future four-star Thierry Darlan. They will play Lanham (MD) Mt. Zion Prep today.

On3s Jamie Shaw is on hand for the event, and here is the day two live blog.

Chris Tadjo may be the best rebounder here

Listed at 6-foot-8, four-star power forward Chris Tadjo has been a terror any where around the paint. Blessed with long arms and a physically developed frame, Tadjo is explosive off the floor. he has an excellent motor to chase rebounds, and strong hands once he gets them on the ball.

Tadjo is also a very good defender, able to challenge shots at the rim and slide his feet on switches. Simply put, the Montreal, Quebec native is full of winning plays.

Welcome to the conversation Churchill Abass

This was Churchill Abass first time traveling with the NBA Academy Africa team to the United States. Perhaps no player made a bigger splash on the day than the 6-foot-8 post player from Nigeria. Abass has a strong and explosive frame.

The senior has the ability to see the ball and get the ball. He is an excellent rebounder in and out of his area. He also tries to dunk everything within ten feet. More than just attempt to dunk it, he tries to tear the rim off.

Abass finished with a team high 14 points in the win. WIth no offers currently in hand, expect that to change quickly.

College programs need to pay attention to Fort Erie (CAN) Prep

The headliner at this point is 6-foot-10 2024 four-star Christian Nitu, and there is a lot to like with the skilled, left-handed forward. He has offers from the likes of TCU, Creighton, and

However, this program is so much more than just Nitu. Brayden Jackson is a 6-foot-6 wing in the class of 2024. He is comfortable on the ball in the half-court and can get to the rim as a slasher. He currently has an offer from Stonehill, but mid to high-major programs should be coming into play soon. Olivier Faubert is a 6-foot-9 wing who can score while getting downhill and knock down shots off the catch.

Still only a junior, 6-foot-5 Ishan Sharma is the returning veteran on the team. An academic wing is also a knockdown shooter and scorer. Junior guard Felix Kossaras plays primarily on the ball for this team, but his best position is probably as a connector guard who can make decisions and make shots.

Well stocked for the future, Fort Erie also features a pair of 6-foot-10 class of 2025 post players to watch as well with Marial Akuentok and Char Yiey. While neither has any offers yet, as they continue to develop, they will come flowing in soon enough.

They won their Friday morning game 63-59. Sharma led the way with 21, including the game-winning three with three seconds on the clock.

Jallow Hedqvist opens eyes

Eddie Jallow Hedqvist is a new name on the radar. Not one I had heard coming in, but certainly one I walked away doing a lot of research on. It turns out, the 6-foot-4 guard is has a smooth floor game.

The intrigue with the RIG Mark Academy (Sweden) comes as a connector guard. He has good vision on the ball and a solid enough handle to be a secondary initiator. As a shooter, Jallow Hedqvist has range that extends well beyond the three point arc and he carries a smooth, repeatable release.

Currently, the junior does not have any offers as he plans to play collegiately. Davidson, Memphis, and Weber State are some programs recently in touch. I will be curious how his recruitment goes moving forward.
