Veteran NC State forward Ben Middlebrooks has entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned. It is the second time he’s seeking a transfer.

Middelbrooks began his career at Clemson. He spent two years with the Tigers before transferring to NC State.

He’ll likely be a hot commodity in the transfer portal after emerging as a reliable role player. In 2024-25, Middlebrooks started 23 of 30 games.

During that time, Ben Middlebrooks averaged 7.5 points and 4.2 rebounds per game. He also blocked 1.3 shots, averaged 1.0 assists and recorded 0.9 steals per game.

Middlebrooks had two games this season with double-digit rebounds. He recorded a double-double in one of them, his lone double-double of the season. He scored in double figures in 13 of 30 games this season.

But the production for Ben Middlebrooks extends beyond just this season. He has contributed in varying capacities over the last four years at both Clemson and NC State.

He started 11 games in 60 appearances at Clemson. He averaged 1.2 points and 1.1 rebounds as a freshman before taking those numbers to 3.1 points and 2.7 rebounds as a sophomore.

In his first year at NC State, Ben Middlebrooks saw his production jump considerably. He averaged 5.7 points and a career-high 4.4 rebounds as a junior.

All that to say someone will get a reliable workhorse out of the NCAA transfer portal. Middlebrooks will definitely garner some interest.

Prior to enrolling at Clemson, Ben Middlebrooks was an unranked recruit. He’s certainly played well above that billing.

Anquan Boldin’s son enters transfer portal

Buffalo Bulls sophomore guard Anquan Boldin Jr. has entered the Transfer Portal, On3 has learned. He is the son of long-time NFL star wide receiver Anquan Boldin.

Coming out of high school, Boldin Jr. was an unranked recruit in the Class of 2023. He attended IMG Academy in Delray Beach, Florida. There, he averaged 11 points, four rebounds, two assists, and one block in 27 games. Eventually, he would sign with Buffalo out of high school.

In two seasons with the Bulls, Boldin Jr. has become an important player for Buffalo. In 53 career games played, he has 49 starts and averaged 27 minutes per game over his first two college seasons. This past season, he was one of just two Bulls players to start every game for the team. For his career, he’s averaging 7.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game. He’s also shooting 46.4 percent from the field, 28 percent from three-point range, and 66.4 percent from the free-throw line. On the defensive end, he has 0.9 steals and 0.7 blocks per game.
