NC State releases statement criticizing baseball selection committee over tournament absence
In one of the most shocking outcomes of Monday’s college baseball Field of 64 selection show, the 36-21 NC State Wolfpack was snubbed from the NCAA Tournament despite a run to the ACC Tournament Championship game.
NC State finished the season with an aggregate 17-16 record in the ACC and a No. 33 RPI overall. D1Baseball even projected the Wolfpack to be the No. 2 seed in the Knoxville Regional.
“We are shocked and disappointed that our baseball team did not receive a bid to the NCAA Tournament,” Director of Athletics Boo Corrigan wrote in a statement. “We hurt for our student-athletes and coaches who worked so hard and who we believe deserved this opportunity.”
NC State’s baseball account on Twitter couldn’t even believe the committee’s decision.
NCAA Tournament committee selection chair Mike Buddie suggested that the final two spots for the field came down to NC State and Ole Miss. Against teams ranked in the top 100 in RPI, the Wolfpack was 22-18 (.550) and the Rebels went 18-18 (.500) while NC State logged 10 wins against teams in the RPI top 25, while Ole Miss finished with just seven.

Rogers criticizes NCAA selection process
The NC State baseball team was shockingly snubbed from the NCAA Tournament Monday despite compiling a 36-21 record and appearing in the ACC Tournament championship game over the weekend. Instead, Ole Miss reportedly received the nod as the final team in the Field of 64.
Managing editor of D1Baseball, Kendall Rogers, took to social media, calling the NCAA Selection Committee’s decision a “complete joke,” bashing Committee Chair Mike Buddie for the egregious decision.
“Mike Buddie also said he would prefer to have all the games possible played before the Selection Committee is making decisions. As long as the Big 12/Pac 12 play later games, this process should be on Monday, not Sunday, IMO,” Rogers wrote.
