NCAA Baseball Tournament: Predicting the winner of all eight Super Regionals
The road to Omaha is well underway, with just 16 teams remaining in the fight for the College World Series. Super Regionals will get underway on Friday, and it’s time to predict who will advance out of each.
Last weekend, regionals delivered some pretty electric postseason baseball. Just 10 of the 16 regional hosts advanced, with the other six watching their seasons end at home. Five 3 seeds also won their regional, with Evansville being the lowest seeded team to advance after winning the Greenville Regional as a 4 seed.

Five teams from the SEC and five teams from the ACC are still alive in the NCAA Baseball Tournament. The other six teams still alive come from the Big East, Big 12, Missouri Valley and Pac-12, with the Big 12 and Pac-12 joining the ACC and SEC as the only conferences with multiple teams still alive.
There’s a lot at stake this weekend. Let’s dive into the matchups and predict who will advance out of super regionals to fight for a national championship in Omaha.
Knoxville Super Regional
Evansville vs. Tennessee (1)
Evansville is the lone 4 seed to advance to super regionals, but it won’t be easy for them to continue their run. The Purple Aces do have some great pieces, led by Mark Shallenberger and Kip Fougerousse offensively and Kenton Deverman on the mound. But Tennessee is a different animal. Ultimately, Tennessee just has too much firepower and we expect them to reach the College World Series.
Prediction: Tennessee wins
Tallahassee Super Regional
UConn vs. Florida State (8)
Florida State is bringing a regional back to Tallahassee, after winning their regional and going 3-0. They are met by UConn, who is one of the most unlikely teams to advance out of their regional. The Huskies won the Norman Regional, defeating both Duke and Oklahoma along the way. This should be a pretty fun matchup, but the Seminoles’ offense just has too many pieces.
Prediction: Florida State wins
Lexington Super Regional
Oregon State (15) vs. Kentucky (2)
When picking the most exciting matchup for super regionals, Lexington has a compelling case with Kentucky set to face off against Oregon State. Kentucky and Oregon State both swept their way through regionals. The Wildcats have been scrappy all year, finding different ways to win every weekend. Oregon State has had their ups and downs, but the Beavers do have a likely top five pick in the upcoming MLB Draft in Travis Bazzana. In a series that figures to feature a lot of runs and close games, we’re rolling with the Beavers.

Prediction: Oregon State wins
Athens Super Regional
Whichever way you want to predict the Athens Super Regional, you should expect a lot of runs. Both NC State and Georgia have dominant lineups with talent throughout. Both the Wolfpack and the Bulldogs swept their way through their respective regionals. In the end, it feels like whichever offense is more dominant will come away with this super regional win. Georgia has 145 home runs on the year compared to 89 for NC State, and Charlie Condon is hoping to solidify himself as the No. 1 overall pick in Omaha.
Prediction: Georgia wins
Charlottesville Super Regional
Kansas State vs. Virginia (12)
Virginia was not slated to host during super regionals as the No. 12 overall seed, but Kansas State winning the Fayetteville Regional (hosted by Arkansas) changed that. Now, Virginia is back at home for another weekend and looking to advance to the College World Series. Both Kansas State and Virginia swept their way through the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. Both teams have questions on the mound, and Virginia’s offense is pretty scary from top to bottom, and that gives them the edge.
Prediction: Virginia wins
Chapel Hill Super Regional
West Virginia vs. North Carolina (4)
West Virginia went to the Tucson Regional last weekend and went 3-0 to sweep it, and now they move on to face North Carolina in Chapel Hill. The Tar Heels needed a Game 7, but they defeated LSU to win the Chapel Hill Regional. Honestly, this should be a pretty fun matchup. A healthy JJ Wetherholt is a game changer for West Virginia, and they have some guys on the mound that will have them in it. But UNC’s lineup is very impressive, and they have some strong arms on the mound that we believe will take them to Omaha.
Prediction: North Carolina wins
Clemson Super Regional
Not many expected Florida to even make the NCAA Tournament, but they did and now they’re fighting on in super regionals. It took a Game 7, but Florida defeated host Oklahoma State twice to win the Stillwater Regional. Clemson, on the other hand, swept their way through regionals to advance. This should be a pretty fun matchup. Clemson’s lineup is good, but Florida has some pieces as well and they’ve done it in the postseason. We don’t think Jac Caglianone’s career is coming to an end just yet.
Prediction: Florida wins
College Station Super Regional
Oregon looked very impressive in the Santa Barbara Regional last weekend, knocking out the top two seeds (UC Santa Barbara and San Diego) to win it. The Ducks are met by Texas A&M, though, and it won’t be easy to keep winning. The Aggies have a ton of starpower in their lineup, led by Jace Laviolette and Braden Montgomery. We just don’t think Oregon has enough to keep up with Texas A&M.
Prediction: Texas A&M wins
