With just a few weeks of action remaining before conference tournaments, the NCAA Selection Committee has revealed their current Top 16 seeds for March Madness.

In a season where there hasn’t been a clear-cut No. 1 team, but rather a constellation of top contenders shuffling around the top of the rankings, these seeds are certainly open to debate. And they’ll almost certainly be different come selection Sunday.

As things currently stand, the Big 12 is in great shape to dominate the top seed lines. Between Kansas, Texas, Baylor, Iowa State and Kansas State, the league has a handful of teams likely to land in the Top 16. The Pac 12 and West Coast also makes a strong showing with Arizona, UCLA and Gonzaga among the top teams, nationally. The state of Texas is well repped, too, with the aforementioned Longhorns and Bears being joined by Houston near the top.

  1. Alabama
  2. Houston
  3. Purdue
  4. Kansas
  5. Texas

Creighton, Miami, Saint Mary’s and UConn “narrowly missed” the top 16, according to selection committee chair Chris Reynolds.

With the current seeds, Alabama, Houston, Purdue and Kansas would be No. 1 seeds, with the Crimson Tide as the top overall seed. Alabama would be in the South Region, while Houston is in the Midwest Region, Kansas is in the West Region and Purdue is in the East Region.
