NCAA Tournament bubble watch: Seth Davis declares who should get bid between Texas, Ohio State, UNC

Selection Sunday is rapidly approaching. And plenty of teams continue to sweat out whether or not their bubble will pop on Sunday evening. Their fates are in the hands of the NCAA Selection Committee. And Saturday night is sure to be a sleepless night for bubble teams such as UNC, Boise State, Indiana, Texas, Xavier, and Ohio State. Plenty of analysts across the country have different opinions on who they think should be in among the bubble teams. And on Saturday evening, Seth Davis shared his thoughts on Twitter, less than 24 hours ahead of the highly anticipated selection show.
“Feels like it’s down to Boise State and Ohio State for the last spot. Indiana and Texas are in, Xavier and North Carolina out.”
Seth Davis on the Bubble Watch: Texas in, UNC out
Davis seems to believe the North Carolina Tar Heels will be on the outside looking in on Selection Sunday. And that’ll surely be a tough pill to swallow for their fan base, after they won 8 of their last 10 games, with their two losses coming to a team that’s projected to be a No. 1 overall seed in the field, the Duke Blue Devils.
That being said, UNC has no one to blame but themselves for their poor resume. They went 1-12 vs. Quad 1 competition. They also went 0-8 against the NET Top 20 teams. If they were to get in, it would be one of the worst resumes to ever get in the NCAA Tournament. There are sites such as EvanMiya.com, that have recently stated the case for the Tar Heels to get into the tourney in recent days as well.
As far as the Texas Longhorns, they currently rank better than all of the bubble teams with a 7-11 record against Quad 1 teams. Seth Davis has stated his case numerous times in the past few days that the ‘Horns should be in the big dance.

As for Boise State, they’ve got an impressive group of wins. They went 6-4 overall against at-large teams. And they boast quite the list of victories: Clemson, Saint Mary’s, New Mexico (twice), San Diego State, and Utah State. The Broncos feature one of the nation’s most gifted defensive players in RJ Keene. He’s got an impressive analytical profile and his impact on the Boise State defense can be seen in stats from EvanMiya.com. Davis sounds like it’s a true coin clip whether the Broncos get in the big dance or not.
The Indiana Hoosiers sit at 19-13 overall. They finished 10-10 in the Big Ten Conference. Some of their impressive wins came against the Purdue Boilermakers (73-58) and the Michigan State Spartans (71-67). They also narrowly edged the Ohio State Buckeyes in overtime (77-76). They also had a 4-13 record against Quad 1 teams.
The Xavier Musketeers had a 2-9 record against Quad 1 teams. They have a 21-11 overall record and rank 4th in the Big East with a 13-7 record in that conference.
Selection Sunday is set for this Sunday, March 16th at 6:00 PM EST. It will be nationally televised on CBS. It’s one of the most exciting times of the year but will bring plenty of anxious moments on Sunday for the teams discussed.
