NCAA Tournament Committee previews Selection Sunday, reveals current top 16 seeds
The NCAA Tournament is getting closer and closer each day, and the Selection Committee continued the excitement by revealing the current Top 16 seeds in the nation on Saturday.
Everyone loves the excitement Selection Sunday and March Madness brings, and we’re only a couple of weeks away from seeing which teams will have a shot at a national title. At the moment, there’s a group of teams separating themselves from the pack, and the NCAA Tournament Committee highlighted them on Saturday.
Check out which teams made the cut as the current Top 16 seeds in the nation. Of course, these could change over the next month, but these programs have something to celebrate at the moment.
Midwest Region
First, the NCAA Tournament Committee selected Purdue as the top overall seed in the tournament at the moment, so of course they’re the top seed in the Midwest Region. With Zach Edey leading the charge, they’re expecting the Boilermakers to be on an impressive revenge tour come March. Tennessee, Baylor and San Diego State follow after Purdue.
East Region
Continuing, the reigning champions of the college basketball world, the Connecticut Huskies, slotted in as the second-overall seed at the moment. They may be No. 1 in the polls at the moment, but they’re behind Purdue in the committee’s eyes, although they remain the top seed in the East Region. North Carolina, Iowa State and Wisconsin follow after the Huskies.

South Region
Next, Houston came in as the third overall seed, and the first seed in the South Region. They’ve been incredible since the beginning of the season, as they’re working their way through their first season in the Big 12. Marquette, Alabama and Illinois follow after the Cougars on the top line.
West Region
Finally, Caleb Love and the Arizona Wildcats are currently the fourth-overall seed from the NCAA Tournament Committee. That’s good enough to get them the top seed in the West Region if all holds, as they’ve been one of the more dangerous teams in the country throughout the 2023-2024 campaign. Kansas, Duke and Auburn bring up the rest of the West following Arizona.
As you can see, these are the teams the NCAA Selection Committee has above the rest entering a pivotal couple of weeks for the college basketball season. We’ll see who else goes dancing in March, but it’s hard to envision these programs missing the festivities when the time comes.
