The Nebraska defense completely shut down the Colorado offense on Saturday, not allowing the Buffaloes to even get a touchdown in the fourth quarter. The Huskers built a 28-0 halftime lead and only allowed Colorado to get 10 points the rest of the way, handing the Buffaloes a pretty humbling defeat in Lincoln.

Nebraska corner Tommi Hill wasn’t shy about exchanging words with Colorado’s two-way star, Travis Hunter during the game. Hill mentioned it in his post-game press conference on Saturday night. The Nebraska cornerback had a certain mindset heading into the game against the Buffaloes.

“If he was going against me,” Hill said, “he was gonna face a dog.”

Hill wasn’t shy about letting Hunter know he had every intention of locking him down on Saturday night.

“I told him nothing is gonna be easy for you… I got in his head in the first and second quarter. Third quarter, he wasn’t talking to me at all,” Hill said in his post game press conference. And while the Huskers did get the victory, Hunter still had a great night individually at least, hauling in 10 catches for 110 receiving yards.

Hill did have one of the biggest momentum-flipping plays of the night, a backbreaking pick-six in the first quarter to put the Huskers up 14-0. With the Buffaloes backed up in their own end zone, Hill jumped the route, snatched it out of the air at the six-yard line, and he basically coasted into the end zone for the score.

But the loss was surely painful for Buffaloes’ players, as quarterback Shedeur Sanders was seen leaving the field with two minutes left on the clock.

Nebraska had several players contribute

Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola had an efficient outing, completing 23 of his 30 passes for 185 yards, while tossing in one touchdown with no interceptions. The Huskers rolled up 149 rushing yards on the Buffaloes’ defense, with running back Dante Dowdell leading the way with 17 carries, 74 rushing yards, and two touchdowns. Freshman speedster Jacory Barney Jr. had two carries for 28 rushing yards.

Next up for Nebraska (2-0), they’ll face off against Northern Iowa on September 14th. That one is slated for 7:30 PM on Big Ten Network. Colorado (1-1) will face off against in-state rival Colorado State on September 14th. That one is set for 7:30 PM EST on CBS.
