After its first bowl win in nearly a decade, Nebraska has some significant momentum around its football program for the first time in that time frame. And the Huskers are looking to capitalize on that, especially with the emergence of true freshman quarterback Dylan Raiola.

Matt Rhule and Co. have already landed a number of major targets out of the NCAA Transfer Portal since it opened on December 9. But they have eyes on another big one — both literally and figuratively.

The Huskers are trending as favorites in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) to land former five-star offensive tackle and Alabama transfer Elijah Pritchett. That follows picks from On3 national insiders Pete Nakos and Steve Wiltfong, as well as HuskerOnline.com’s Bryan Munson and Sean Callahan.

“The Huskers are considered the program to beat and the On3 RPM now reflects that,” Wiltfong wrote on Monday. “Pete Nakos and I have logged predictions in favor of the Big Ten program.”

Pritchett would give the Huskers a ready-made tackle

During the 2024 season, Pritchett played in all 12 games, including 10 of which he started at right tackle. He was named to the Outland Trophy Watch List and was honored as the Outland Player of the Week after beating Wisconsin early in the season.

In 2023, he appeared in 13 games as a reserve offensive tackle and on special teams.

As a recruit, the 6-foot-6, 312-pounder was the nation’s No. 34 overall prospect in the Class of 2022, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

He is expected to have two years of eligibility remaining, and according to Wiltfong, will be on campus to visit the Huskers on Tuesday. Rhule and Co. currently have On3’s No. 46 transfer class nationally, a group that includes former Five-Star Plus+ Missouri signee Williams Nwaneri and talented ex-Kentucky wideout Dane Key.

The Huskers have made 14 additions in total this portal cycle, while they’ve seen 25 players — including walk-ons — leave the program.
