Report: Nevada DB, West Virginia transfer Davis Mallinger arrested on four felony drug charges
Nevada defensive back Davis Mallinger, who transferred in from West Virginia, is reportedly facing serious drug charges.
Mallinger has been arrested on four felony drug charges, according to Chris Murray.
“Nevada DB Davis Mallinger was arrested on four felony drug charges, including possession with intent to sell,” Murray posted on Twitter. “Mallinger, a first-year transfer from West Virginia, has been suspended indefinitely, a Wolf Pack spokesperson told NSN.”
As of Friday afternoon, Mallinger’s name is no longer listed on the Nevada football roster online.
Davis Mallinger spent three seasons at West Virginia prior to transferring to Nevada. He redshirted as a freshman in 2021 but still appeared in four games. Mallinger made a pair of tackles that season.
In 2022, he saw his role increase. The Florida native appeared in nine games as a redshirt freshman, recording 27 tackles, including a pair of sacks.
Ahead of the 2023 season, Mallinger moved over to the offensive side of the ball. He appeared in one game last year before entering the transfer portal and ending up at Nevada.
Mallinger was rated as a three-star recruit in the class of 2021, per the On3 Industry rankings. He was considered to be the No. 478 overall player in the country.
The 6-foot-1 athlete attended Cocoa High and played receiver prior to signing with West Virginia.
He was named first-team All-State in 4A in 2020 after catching 49 passes for 818 yards and seven touchdowns. He also had 85 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown in 2020.

He helped Cocoa High to a 10-1 record and a spot in the 4A state semifinals during his final season of high school football.
Prior to attending Cocoa High, Davis Mallinger went to Viera High as a junior. He caught 46 passes for 742 yards and seven touchdowns during his junior year of high school and also rushed 37 times for 257 yards and a score. He helped Viera High to a 6-4 record and a spot in the 7A playoffs.
Mallinger attended Melbourne High for his first two years of high school, before going to different schools for his final two years.
Across his two seasons at Melbourne, Mallinger had 432 yards rushing on 68 attempts and added four receptions for 86 yards and six total touchdowns.
He was also a track star in high school and recorded personal bests of 10.74 in the 100 meters and 21.57 in the 200 meters
