The NFL has announced the teams that will participate in international games for the 2023 season.

In 2023, games will be played in England and Germany. The NFL has scheduled two games for England, so far, both of which will be played in London. The league also has an agreement to play a German game in either Munich or Frankfurt.

This upcoming season won’t see a game played in Mexico due to renovations occurring at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.

Growing the league and our sport internationally is a major strategic priority for the NFL, and we are excited to again be playing five games outside of the United States in 2023,” said Peter O’Reilly, NFL Executive Vice President, Club Business, Major Events & International.

“We know how important live regular season games are to our passionate global fans and we thank our clubs for their strong, long-term commitment to this important initiative. Interest in our game globally is at an all-time high, and we look forward to returning to the UK and Germany in 2023 with some of the most iconic clubs and stars in the NFL.”

The NFL’s slate of international games

Here are the teams playing in international games in 2023:

  • Buffalo Bills
  • New England Patriots
  • Kansas City Chiefs
  • Jacksonville Jaguars
  • Tennessee Titans

As of now, the matchups are New England takes on Kansas City in Germany. The exact city will be announced later this year. Then, Buffalo will play Tennessee in London, England. That game will be played at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Meanwhile, Jacksonville will return to London’s Wembley Stadium, though their opponent hasn’t been announced yet.

Jacksonville has a multi-year contract to play in the United Kingdom. This will be the franchise’s 10th London game. Meanwhile, it will be Buffalo and Tennessee’s second.

“The Jaguars and Wembley Stadium made International Games history in the capital in 2022, boasting the highest attendance of any NFL game in London ever and we are committed to Wembley for at least two more annual home games, with the aim of making each one bigger and better than the last,” Mark Lamping, the Jacksonville Jaguars president said.

“Our commitment to London and the United Kingdom goes much deeper than just one home game each year, however. We have a loyal and continually growing fan base which we very much appreciate, our JagTag programme reaches almost 90,000 young people spanning the breadth of the country, and the Union Jax Foundation ensures we are able to provide support to a cross section of society’s vulnerable young people. The Jaguars plan to always be part of NFL landscape in London and we are all looking forward to being back in 2023.”

Both New England and Kansas City are a part of the NFL’s  International Home Marketing Area, or IHMA, which secures teams marketing rights in foreign countries. Both teams have been awarded the rights to Germany.

More details on kickoff times and dates will be announced later this year.
