Amazon Prime announces Ryan Fitzpatrick part of Thursday Night Football coverage
Ryan Fitzpatrick may be done playing football but he will be staying in within the sport with a broadcasting role. Amazon Prime Video announced the journeyman quarterback will be joining the Thursday Night Football crew, serving as an analyst during their pregame, halftime, and postgame shows.
“Although my playing career has come to an end, my love for football has not,” Fitzpatrick said in a statement. “I’m excited to start this new chapter with Thursday Night Football and looking forward to sharing my unique experiences and perspectives with football fans.”
Fitzpatrick spent 17 seasons in the NFL, playing for nine different teams. He was drafted in the 7th round by the Saint Louis Rams and ended his career with the Washington Commanders during the 2021 season. Four years in Buffalo was Fitzpatrick’s longest tenure with a single franchise.
Amazon Prime Video’s director of Global Live Sports Production Jared Stacy released a statement alongside Fitzpatrick. He said everybody associated with Thursday Night Football is thrilled to have the former quarterback involved with the broadcast.
“One of the great characters in the league, Ryan has been a fan favorite and a beloved teammate everywhere he’s gone over the last 17 seasons,” Stacy said. “We’re thrilled to now have him on our Thursday Night Football team and know our viewers will love seeing his sense of humor and intelligence on display every week.”
Ryan Fitzpatrick joins Richard Sherman on Thursday Night Football
Richard Sherman will be joining the Thursday Night Football team, NFL On Prime Video announced recently. The former Super Bowl Champion has worked in the media in the past but will now be a part of one of the league’s primetime slots.

However, despite getting into broadcasting, Sherman does not plan on retiring, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. He will continue to work out with the hope being there is another opportunity to see playing time.
“Now official: Richard Sherman is headed into broadcasting,” Pelissero said. “Sherman, 34, isn’t retiring just yet. He’ll continue training for a possible return to the field. But you’ll be seeing him this fall either way.”
In early May, reports emerged that Sherman was in discussion with Thursday Night Football to become a “key role in their programming.” Nearly a month later, the deal is done and the NFL cornerback will be on television in America this fall.
Thursday Night Football will kick off in Week 2, with the Kansas City Chiefs playing host to the Los Angeles Chargers. Games will run all the way through Week 17, where some of the biggest matchups in the NFL will take place.
