Highly-regarded sports agent Drew Rosenhaus has started working with college athletes in recent years. Rosenhaus appeared on The Pat McAfee Show on Friday afternoon and revealed that he had 70 college athletes he worked with for NIL opportunities last year.

Rosenhaus is all for college athletes getting paid through NIL deals. However, he admitted that the current set up is a bit crazy.

“We had 70 NIL clients. It’s chaotic,” Drew Rosenhaus said. “I love the fact that college guys are finally getting paid. It’s about time. I think it’s awesome. I mean, why are college football players the only athletes or guys that provide a service, a skill, that can’t get paid their fair market value? It’s absolutely awesome.”

With that said, Rosenhaus would like to see some more guidelines put in.

“In the NFL we’ve got a salary cap. We’ve got free agency. We’ve got rules,” Rosenhaus said. “Guys can’t just go from one team to the next. I think that should be the case in college football, as well.”

Rosenhaus added that he would be open to working with the NCAA and colleges to create a set of rules and guidelines that would have to be followed.

Pat McAfee suggested that perhaps former Alabama coach Nick Saban should take over as the Czar of college football, with Rosenhaus working with him to improve the sport.

Coaches around the country have not been shy about voicing their displeasure in regards certain parts of the transfer portal, NIL and more.

“I’d love to help create structure,” Rosenhaus said. “I think it’s awesome that guys get paid, but let’s have some type of system where it’s not as chaotic as it is. Coaches can count on having players, there aren’t guys popping out of the transfer portal every day. I think it’d be better for the young men if there was some stability. I don’t think it’s great for guys to go to four or five different colleges. You know, you also want them to get an education and develop their skills.”

Drew Rosenhaus and Nick Saban coming together to create structure in college athletics could be exactly what is needed.

No one has been as successful as Saban as a college football coach, and no one has been as successful as Rosenhaus at getting athletes paid. Perhaps the two could come together and find a way for college athletes to get paid but with some added guidelines that would be beneficial for everyone involved.
