Nick Saban reacts to Alabama's offensive explosion, praises Jalen Milroe
A year ago, Nick Saban would be in the locker room attempting to get Alabama ready for the second half against Georgia. But this time, he is on the sideline of the field named after him, giving analysis on the ESPN broadcast. Alabama is up 30-7 at the break with seemingly everything going in the Crimson Tide’s favor.
Saban was impressed with the game plan Kalen DeBoer was able to put together for Jalen Milroe. The quarterback exploded out of the gates and got Alabama out to a 28-0 lead in the blink of an eye. Some credit was given to Milroe as well for going out there and executing the plan.
“Well, first of all, they have an outstanding game plan. Jalen Milroe is doing a fantastic job of executing it.”
On the flip side, Saban was not too impressed with how Georgia performed offensively. He noticed the desire to take deep shots on the outside, hoping to get their receivers in one-on-one coverage against the Alabama corners.
While successful at getting the matchup, Carson Beck was not able to connect with his guys. From there, Georgia was never able to establish a rhythm.

“I think, the way Georgia came out to play the game on offense — Alabama likes to play middle of the field coverage. So they went and attacked the corners and they went 0/3 on taking shots. They never tried to establish the run and Alabama jumped all over them offensively. Jalen Milroe had more yards himself than the entire Georgia team right up until the end.”
Milroe completed 18 of 21 passes in the first half, throwing for 199 yards and a touchdown. On the ground, 106 yards and two touchdowns were racked up on just nine carries. His lone blemish of the night thus far has been an interception.
As the highlights were rolling, Saban called his former quarterback “the fastest player on the field.” Saban could not help but be impressed, even as a neutral analyst.
