Nico Iamaleava injury update: Tennessee QB's status revealed on Thursday injury report vs. Georgia
The Georgia Bulldogs are getting ready to host the Tennessee Volunteers in a game that has implications both on the SEC Championship race and the College Football Playoff. It’s also a game that injuries could end up playing a massive role in.
One of the biggest points of concern has been Tennessee starting quarterback Nico Iamaleava. He has been in concussion protocol since leaving the Volunteers’ game against Mississippi State early. He was initially listed as questionable on the Wednesday injury report. However, as the week goes on, more clarity is expected there.

During the SEC teleconference on Wednesday, Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel was asked about his starting quarterback. Ultimately, he was coy, but he did share some news about Nico Iamaleava.
“Nico has been good here in the early part of the week,” Josh Heupel said. “And at this point in the week, I’ll refer everybody to the availability report that comes out later tonight. Everybody can wait with anticipation for that.”
That update, and Iamaleava ultimately being listed as questionable on Wednesday, came after FOX Sports’ Chris “The Bear” Fallica speculated that Iamaleava wouldn’t be able to play against Georgia this week.
For Georgia, the running back position is likely the biggest point of concern. Roderick Robinson and Branson Robinson are already out for the game. Then, on the Wednesday injury report, Trevor Etienne and Cash Jones were both listed as questionable. So, more of the workload will likely land on freshman Nate Frazier.
