WATCH: NJCU drills two threes in final five seconds to complete stunning comeback over Rowan with buzzer beater
One of the craziest and wackiest finishes you’ll ever see in college basketball happened on Wednesday night in a Division III contest in Jersey City, New Jersey. New Jersey City University was trailing Rowan by four points with 5.2 seconds remaining in the game. That’s when the heroics began for NJCU. First, Ryan Savoy drilled a turnaround three-pointer from the right corner to pull NJCU to within one, 71-70. On the next inbounds play, the ball was deflected by NJCU’s Pharoh Allah, and it found the hands of Jason Battle. Battle was somehow able to stop right before going out of bounds, turn around, and launch the ball up in the air, an absolute moon shot towards the hoop. The prayer was answered, the ball banked off the glass, and swished through the net at the buzzer, lifting NJCU to a heart-stopping 73-71 win over Rowan.
Check it out below.
There’s no question about it, that one will be one of the wildest finishes of the 2022-2023 college basketball season. The arc of the shot by Battle was just ridiculous how high it went. And then for it to bank in. Absolutely incredible. That’s one heck of a shot from a really awkward, deep angle on the court.
It was really impressive for Battle to stop right near the out of bounds line and then to be able to gather himself in order to be able to launch the basketball.
