No. 7 Arkansas upset by Missouri State, 8-4
The celebration will be raucous for a Tuesday night in Springfield, Missouri, after Missouri State toppled No. 7 Arkansas on the diamond. After a six spot in the bottom of the third, the Bears never trailed the Razorbacks and went on to win, 8-4.
After Missouri State took a 1-0 lead in the first on a Nick Rodriguez leadoff home run, the Razorbacks struck back. In the top of the second, an RBI single tied the game and a fielders choice combined with an error gave Arkansas a 2-1 lead.
Missouri State broke it open in the third, plating six of their eight runs in that inning. A pair of RBI singles, and a two-run double set the table for Anthony Socci to blast a two-run home run, giving the Bears a 7-2 lead.
It all set up for Springfield native Reed Metz to shut down any hopes of a rally in the top of the ninth from the mound.
With the win, Missouri State goes to 23-16 overall and gets a boost to a potential run at the NCAA tournament field. the Razorbacks go to 30-11 and while the midweek loss stings, navigating the tail end of the SEC schedule will have a far bigger sway over postseasons possibilities for Arkansas.

How Arkansas stacks up for the NCAA baseball tournament
In D1Baseball’s latest Field of 64 projection, released on April 19, ten teams from the SEC were included in the field. Arkansas was one, but a spot isn’t a certainty until selection day.
Record: 30-10 (11-7)
RPI: 5
Remaining midweek games: at Missouri State, vs. Lipscomb
Remaining weekend series: vs. Texas A&M, at Mississippi State, vs. South Carolina, at Vanderbilt
Injuries have had an impact over recent weeks for the Razorbacks, and that was apparent this past weekend when Arkansas was swept by Georgia. That being said, Arkansas is still very likely going to be hosting a regional this season. The Razorbacks sit top five in RPI entering Tusday. With series against Texas A&M and Mississippi State, two teams looking to solidify their spot in the tournament, plus a brutal two-weekend stretch to end the year, Arkansas will have its hands full. But it’s tough to see a postseason field without the Razorbacks hosting a regional.
Although D1Baseball’s field was projected prior to this weekend, it had Arkansas as the No. 4 overall seed.
