North Carolina HC Bill Belichick visits elite Oregon TE commit Kendre Harrison
Reidsville (N.C.) four-star tight end Kendre Harrison committed to Oregon on Nov. 30 and is expected to play both football and basketball at the next level.
Currently the headlining member of the Ducks’ already-loaded 2026 recruiting class, Harrison is yet another big national recruiting win for Dan Lanning. Other coaching staffs will continue to keep the 6-foot-6 playmaker warm, though.
North Carolina head coach Bill Belichick has a hefty crop of in-state talent to try and keep home in the 2026 cycle. Harrison, the No. 2 player in the state, is currently off the board, but that won’t stop the Tar Heels from trying.
Belichick swung by Reidsville on Friday to check in on Harrison:
UNC was a finalist for Harrison’s pledge back in November, alongside Florida State, Miami, Penn State, Tennessee and of course the Ducks. The Tar Heels worked hard and looked to potentially have a good angle in Harrison’s recruitment with basketball also being on the table, but Oregon seized the momentum and soared to the top of Harrison’s list in the fall.
“Oregon is an amazing place,” Harrison told On3. “Oregon is the total package. I chose Oregon because of their player development, the coaching I will get there, the culture and the place. I like Eugene a lot.”
He’s currently one of 10 commits in Oregon’s 2026 class, which ranks No. 1 in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. He’s already one of five top-100 prospects in the cycle to join the fold in Eugene.
Harrison returned to campus this month and left with more high remarks of the Big Ten power. Flipping him from the Ducks won’t be an easy feat.
“I’m still getting recruited by schools here and there, but I’m not really one of those guys that de-commits. I know I’m 100% locked in with Oregon and that ain’t nothing gonna change my decision,” Harrison told Scoop Duck.

Harrison is the No. 16 overall prospect and top-ranked TE in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. As a four-star basketball prospect, he ranks No. 56 overall and No. 8 at the power forward position.
North Carolina beginning to build 2026 class
After getting plenty of offers out on the trail, Belichick and his staff are starting to see some commitments come through the door.
While still early, UNC’s 2026 class now features four commits, three of which came in the span of three days. Concord (Calif.) De La Salle three-star cornerback Jaden Jefferson, Gardena (Calif.) Junipero Serra three-star CB Marcellous Ryan and Los Angeles Rancho Cucamonga three-star CB Justin Lewis have all joined the class this month.
Charlotte Providence Day three-star quarterback Zaid Lott remained in the class as UNC transitioned from former head coach Mack Brown to Belichick. He’s currently the No. 45 QB in the cycle. The class ranks No. 32 in the nation to date.
“I know that it is a privilege and I will be blessed with (Hall of Fame) NFL-level coaching and I will not take it for granted at all and cannot wait for the opportunity,” Lott told On3 following the hiring of Belichick.
