North Carolina is expected to hire Indiana’s Jason Jones as cornerbacks coach, sources tell On3.

Jones, a former Alabama starting defensive back, was previously a cornerbacks coach at FAU (2019) and a co-defensive coordinator and secondary coach Ole Miss from 2013-18.

Jones has also worked at places such as Oklahoma State (2008-12) and Tulsa (2007).

In his career, Jones has coached four Jim Thorpe Award semifinalists, a Bronko Nagurski Award finalist and a top-10 NFL draft pick (former Oklahoma State cornerback Justin Gilbert).

With Indiana, Jones helped Jamar Johnson become the Hoosiers’ first all-conference safety since 1996.

At North Carolina, Jones will be the replacement for Dré Bly, who was the Tar Heels’ cornerbacks coach the last four seasons. UNC and Bly parted ways earlier this month.
