North Texas is set to hire Alabama senior special assistant to the head coach Drew Svoboda as associate head coach and special teams coordinator, a source confirmed to On3.

The news was first reported by Football Scoop.

Svoboda originally joined the Crimson Tide staff last year as tight ends coach and special teams coordinator before transitioning to his current role after last season.

A former Texas high school head coach, Svoboda made the college to the level in 2018 with Rice. He worked for the Owls for three seasons as a running backs coach and special teams coordinator before a brief stint at Memphis during the 2021 offseason that preceded him being hired at Alabama.

At North Texas, Svoboda will work under Eric Morris, who was recently hired as the Mean Green’s new head coach after spending this season as the offensive coordinator at Washington State.
