Notable stats, highlights from Texas A&M commits and targets
Week 7 of the high school football season saw some big performances across the state of Texas, and across the country, from some key Texas A&M commits and targets.
Texas A&M’s most recent commit, Katy (Tex.) Paetow five-star defensive lineman David Hicks had six solo tackles, an assist and a tackle for loss in a loss to Katy (Tex.) High. On the season, Hicks is already closing in 50 tackles and 20 tackles for loss.
Texas A&M five-star linebacker commit Anthony Hill had the week off last week, but returned to action against Burleson (Tex.) Centennial on Friday. In a 23-16 loss, the five-star had 16 tackles, one tackle for loss, one pass defended and two quarterback hurries.
Texas A&M four-star defensive back commit Dalton Brooks continues to light up the scoreboard. In a 67-7 win over Three Rivers, the senior at Shiner (Tex.) High ran for 284 yards and four touchdowns on just 17 carries, adding one reception for 17 yards.
El Campo (Tex.) High five-star running back and Louisville commit Rueben Owens rushed for 141 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries in a 37-27 win over Bay City. On the season, Owens has already rushed for over 1,000 yards with 14 touchdowns to pair. Texas A&M is maintaining daily contact, looking to flip him from the Cardinals.
Aggie Scoop was in attendance to see Willis (Tex.) High four-star quarterback DJ Lagway, who had an efficient performance in a 49-24 win over The Woodlands (Tex.) College Park. Lagway completed 27 of 30 pass attempts for 387 yards and five touchdowns, adding 51 rushing yards on the ground. He’s already thrown for over 1,550 yards and 20 touchdowns on the season, completing 69% of his passes.
2024 Temple (Tex.) Lake Belton four-star wide receiver Micah Hudson has been pretty much unguardable all season. In a 43-13 win over Killeen, he finished with 6 receptions for 131 yards and two touchdowns, adding a 27-yard run on the night.

2024 Alpharetta (Ga.) Milton four-star wide receiver Debron Gatling had six receptions for 123 yards and two touchdowns in a 35-28 win over South Forsyth (Ga.) High. Gatling visited Texas A&M for the first time this summer, which saw the Aggies skyrocket in his recruitment. He recently returned to College Station last month for the Miami game.
2024 Longview (Tex.) High four-star running back Taylor Tatum rushed for 129 yards and three touchdowns on just 14 carries in a 46-7 win over Forney (Tex.) High.
2025 Texas A&M four-star wide receiver commit Winston Watkins Jr. has been a dynamic playmaker for Florida powerhouse Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy. On Friday, the sophomore had four catches for 66 yards and two touchdowns.
2025 Lucas (Tex.) Lovejoy wide receiver Daylan McCutcheon had two receptions for 70 yards and a touchdown in a dominant 70-0 win over Princeton (Tex.) High.
