Notre Dame lands a commitment from coveted edge rusher Ebenezer Ewetade

Garner (SC) South Garner On300 edge rusher Ebenezer Ewetade announced his commitment to Notre Dame on Saturday during a return visit to campus.
The 6-foot-4, 230-pound Ewetade chose to play his college football for head coach Marcus Freeman and the Irish over Alabama and Georgia.
“Notre Dame is Notre Dame, you feel me,” Ewetade told On3. “I don’t know how to put it into words.
“Magical place.”
On3 tabs Ewetade as the nation’s No. 6 edge rusher and No. 36 prospect overall (much higher than the industry-generated On3 Industry that tabs him No. 22 and No. 189 respectively). Defensive line coach Al Washington was the lead recruiter.
“Notre Dame can mold you into a better person,” Ewetade said. “I feel like it’s a place I can grow. It’s a place that won’t make me just a better football player, but a better man.”

As a junior Ewetade had 82 tackles including 28 stops for loss, 10 sacks and 27 quarterback hurries. He loves where the Irish football program is at.

“I feel like they’re going to be increasing, winning more games, going to National Championships,” Ewetade said. “The stats don’t lie. The developmental part. I feel like Coach Washington can make me a better d-linemen. I’ve seen workouts online and all the good stuff that can make me better on the field.
“I feel like Coach Freeman, just him spending time in his day to talk to me you don’t see that a lot with head coaches. I feel like he’s making a good change in Notre Dame football. I’ve seen statistics, ever since he’s been there they’ve been winning more games which is good.”
Ewetade says he’s shutting down the process and only visiting Notre Dame moving forward.
“I just feel like it’s no time to waste,” Ewetade said. “I know where I want to be. It’s no point in waiting.”
Notre Dame checked every box for him.
“Getting that degree,” Ewetade stated. After football I want to make it to the NFL but after football, after the NFL, I’ll have a degree to fall back on.”
