Notre Dame’s offense simply wasn’t all the way in sync early on against Miami (Ohio). The team finished the first half with 176 total yards of offense.

Additionally, the team wasn’t very good on third down, converting just one of four attempts. Still, the offense was averaging 6.5 yards per play, well better than the 4.3 that Miami (Ohio) averaged.

Still, it’s safe to say that Riley Leonard’s transition into the starting role after transferring from Duke hasn’t gone quite as smoothly as last year’s edition. That, of course, was Sam Hartman coming over from Wake Forest. He put together an excellent season.

While Riley Leonard has had his moments, he hasn’t hit full stride just yet. In three games to date entering Saturday’s contest he had gone 49-of-78 passing for 433 yards, with no touchdowns and two interceptions. He had also run for 179 yards and four scores.

Angeli, meanwhile, has been lightly used. He entered Saturday just 6-of-9 passing for 100 yards and two touchdowns, with no interceptions.

Regardless, it’ll be interesting to see how Leonard performs in the second half and whether the Fighting Irish opt to make a move.

Notre Dame led Miami (Ohio) 14-3 at halftime.
