Wayne (NJ) DePaul Catholic running back Nolan James has flipped his commitment from Boston College to Notre Dame.

The 5-foot-11, 200-pound James was in South Bend over the weekend for an official visit.

“I think the fact that it is the best of both worlds,” James told On3. “That being academically and athletically.”

On his visit, James said, “I got an overall feel of the campus, staff, and the program.

“The trip was great. Really enjoyed it.”

Now James is part of it.

“I would say the overall message and goal from everyone in the building,” Jamed added of what else stood out. “Which is everyone involved with the program pushing the players to greatness on and off the field. Along with embracing the fact that it is going to be difficult and hard.”

James becomes commit No. 24 for head coach Marcus Freeman and the Irish in the 2025 recruiting class. Future position coach Deland McCullough is the lead recruiter.

It’s been a terrific senior season for James. In his first nine games he has 1,419 yards rushing and 14 touchdowns with another 265 yards receiving and two more scores.

Moving forward Notre Dame still has a need at receiver, defensive line and linebacker. LSU receiver commit Derek Meadows and Tulane verbal Antwaun Parham are the candidates on the perimeter. The Irish made a big push for Florida defensive line commit Jalen Wiggins over the weekend. Linebacker Madden Faraimo is the top target in the middle of the defense.
