Elite Notre Dame QB commit Deuce Knight arrives for Auburn visit
Auburn is hosting a loaded list of top prospects for its season-opener against Alabama A&M on Saturday evening.
At the top of the list for head coach Hugh Freeze and the Tigers is Lucedale (Miss.) George County four-star quarterback and current Notre Dame commit Deuce Knight.
After getting Knight on campus for a quiet visit at the end of July, the elite signal-caller is back on The Plains as his recruitment continues to trend toward the SEC program. Ahead of Saturday’s game, Knight was alongside a bevy of other recruits as Freeze held court at Jordan Hare Stadium.
On Friday night, Knight was sporting an Auburn towel for the first game of his senior season. He later switched to an Ole Miss towel, as the Rebels also continue to push for his commitment. It’s the Tigers that are currently trending in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM), however.
“My On3 RPM is on Auburn for Deuce Knight,” On3’s Steve Wiltfong said earlier this month. “I think, as I talk to you today, that’s where I ultimately see him still landing. But, Ole Miss is still in there for the Notre Dame quarterback commit and the Fighting Irish hoping he takes it into the season. Looking to get off to a fast start against Texas A&M on the road in primetime and go from there. But, I think he wants to play in the SEC. I give the edge to Auburn over Ole Miss right now.”
Knight is the No. 33 overall prospect and No. 7 QB in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 2 player in Mississippi.

“All signs point to Deuce heavily considering a flip to Auburn,” Auburn insider Jeffrey Lee said earlier this month. “I know Ole Miss is in this as well, but I really like Auburn here. I think if anybody has the best chance to flip him from Notre Dame, it’s Auburn for several reasons. Deuce Knight was one of the first 2025 quarterback names that I heard a year ago.”
Auburn’s visitor list this weekend features multiple flip targets alongside Knight. Ohio State Five-Star Plus+ cornerback commit Na’eem Offord and Miami four-star linebacker commit Elijah Melendez are also expected at Jordan Hare Stadium on Saturday.
Deuce Knight Scouting Summary
On3 writes this of Knight as a prospect:
“Big left-handed signal caller who is the top athlete at the position in the 2025 cycle. Measured in at 6-foot-4.5, 208 pounds with a 9.75-inch hand at the On3 Elite Series prior to his senior season. Registers as a truly elite athlete at quarterback and one of the best athletes in the 2025 cycle, regardless of position. Consistently runs in the 4.5 second range at camps and has posted multiple 40+ inch vertical leaps. Shows flashes of that athleticism on Friday nights. Capable of tucking the ball and taking it to the house from anywhere on the field. Easily eliminates the angles of pursuit defenders as a scrambler and on designed runs.
…Tough to bring down in the backfield with his size and reactive quickness. Touts a strong downfield arm. Flashes the ability to stick throws into tight windows over the middle of the field. Showed marked progress as a passer during the off-season prior to his senior year, after a few months of working with a private coach. Still developing, but has tons of upside to continue improving with continued coaching and in-game reps.”
