Notre Dame is trending for a top-10 linebacker in the class of 2026 following a pair of insider expert predictions.

The Irish have a 93.7% chance of landing Matthews (N.C.) Weddington four-star linebacker Thomas Davis Jr., according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM). Notre Dame insiders Mike Singer and Kyle Kelly both logged picks favoring the Irish at 60% confidence levels.

Davis is part of an elite defense at Weddington — one that includes Ohio State four-star defensive line commit Trajen Odom, junior four-star DL Aiden Harris and four-star EDGE Andrew Harris. Weddington is the preseason No. 1 team in North Carolina and will open against Charlotte Providence Day on Thursday.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pound Davis visited South Bend in April before returning to campus in late July after the end of the recruiting dead period.

“When I talked to him after his first visit, he said he loved the campus, the facilities and listening to Coach Freeman talk,” Weddington coach Andy Capone told Blue & Gold on July 25. “Everybody just loved the vibe they got.”

Davis told Blue & Gold after the visit that the Irish were “high up there” with other top schools in his recruitment.

Davis is the son of NFL backer and former Georgia Bulldog Thomas Davis.
