Red Raiders, Fighting Irish meet with Sweet 16 spot on the line

While both Texas Tech and Notre Dame recorded first-round wins in the NCAA Tournament, they now have to earn another victory to remain alive in the Big Dance – but only of them will be able to do that. With a spot in the Sweet 16 on the line, the Red Raiders and Fighting Irish will go to battle Sunday night to determine who moves on.

No. 3 Texas Tech advanced to the second round with a dominant 97-62 win over No. 14 Montana State in the first round, while No. 11 Notre Dame upset No. 6 Alabama by a score of 78-64. As the Red Raiders coasted their way through their opening game, the Fighting Irish – who had already won a First Four thriller over Rutgers – were able to hand Alabama a double-digit, season-ending loss.

Already with a pair of NCAA Tournament wins, it wouldn’t necessarily be a surprise if Notre Dame knocks off Texas Tech – but that task certainly won’t be an easy one.
