Notre Dame WR Jordan Faison expected to miss 1-2 weeks with ankle sprain

On Monday, Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman confirmed wide receiver Jordan Faison will miss one to two weeks with an ankle sprain, per On3’s Tyler Horka. Faison reportedly suffered the injury in the Fighting Irish’s 23-13 win over Texas A&M on Saturday.
In the victory, Faison recorded two catches for 12 total yards. Faison is expected to play a large role for the Fighting Irish this season. In his freshman year in 2023, Faison played in seven and games and made two starts.
Notably, one of Faison’s starts was in Notre Dame’s win over Oregon State in the Sun Bowl. Faison erupted in the triumph, tallying five catches for 115 yards and a touchdown. For his efforts, he was named the Sun Bowl MVP.
Ahead of the season, Notre Dame offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock broke down his expectations for Faison in the 2024 campaign.

“We know he can play the field slot receiver,” Denbrock said. “And there’ll be things that we do against Texas A&M where he’s the field slot receiver. But we also want to get him some experience at the field No. 1 if we want to happen to have a bigger body in the slot or we’ve got something specific we’re doing with that position.”

Riley Leonard reflects on impact of Notre Dame’s win
Transfer quarterback Riley Leonard played a pivotal role in Notre Dame’s win over Texas A&M on Saturday. In the victory, he completed 18-of-his-30 pass attempts for 158 total yards. He also tallied 63 rushing yards on 12 carries.
After the game, Leonard reflected on the importance of the Week 1 triumph.
“Shoot, we’re a gritty team, and we embrace that,” Leonard said. “I think that every game we go into we know we’re going to fight our tail off to win. I think we got a lot of talent this year, and that complements our hard work.
“If we can go into this environment and beat a team like that, that’s coached as well as they are, I feel like that gives us all the confidence in the world to go into any environment in the country.”
