Observations from Day 2 of Pangos All-American
Las Vegas, Nevada — The Pangos All-American Camp gave On3 the opportunity to see additional viewings of players we are already familar with, as well as meet and see some new faces.
Day 2 opened our eyes to some players, and drew questions marks to others.
4-star CG Styles Phipps
On3 Consensus: No. 43
St. Mary’s (Phoenix, AZ)
Styles Phipps was the most pleasantly surprising player I saw today. Maybe I underestimated him at first, but the 6-foot-1 class of 2024 combo guard is an absolute dog. Auburn and TCU are his two lone high major offers, but that’s not a reflection of his game. The Arizona native should have the entire PAC-12 on him once they catch wind of his play. His court vision is superb, he competes on both ends, and will even crash the boards against the big fellas down low, despite his size. Phipps does not back down from competition. All gas, no brakes. He’s a gritty guard that doesn’t back down from a challenge, that can also put the ball in the hole. Phipps finished with 16 points (50% FG), five rebounds, four assists, and seven steals.
4-star CG Chris Johnson
On3 Consensus: No. 28
Montverde Academy (Fla.)
Chris Johnson really showed his off to ability to pass the rock. The 6-foot-4 combo guard showed off his excellent passing skills, as well as his fabulous change of speed. He’s got a nice feel for the game, and knows where to put the ball. He’s also crafty around the time and protects the ball. His jumpshot is still improving, but today his shots were falling. In the game I watched of Johnson, he finished with 20 points (50% FG), five rebounds, and four assists.

4-star C Xavier Booker
On3 Consensus: No. 30
Cathedral (Indianapolis, IN)
Expect a big jump from Xavier Booker when On3 updates its class of 2023 player rankings. In his first showing of the day, the 6-foot-10 big man looked phenomal and the upside is truly there. He’s just now tapping into his potential and his body movement is incredibly agile and smooth. He finished with 28 points (12-15 FG, 4-5 3P). However, in the next two showings, Booker slowed and appeared to lose focus. Regardless, Booker is a stockriser.
5-star C Baye Fall
On3 Consensus: No. 9
Accelerated Schools Aka Family Services Found (Parker, CO)
Baye Fall’s motor, length, and evolving skillset will take him to the promised land. Today, Fall was active scoring on the low block, and his turn around fadeaway jumper couldnt be stopped thanks to his length. He competed defensievly, leading to some tipped shots, and also finished some put back dunks. His back to the basket scoring is still a work in progress. All in all, Fall secured his five-star status.
