Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna Prep wide receiver Jeremiah Smith is expected to visit Florida State on July 29, per Gators Online’s Keith Niebuhr. Smith is a Five-Star Plus+ prospect and ranked No. 1 overall in the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

The 6-foot-3, 198-pound Smith committed to Ohio State in December and has remained steadfast in his commitment on social media. Still, he has continued to take trips to Columbus and around the southeast, as well as taking official visits to Ohio State, Miami, Florida and Georgia.

“The visit went well and I had a great time,” Smith told On3 about his March visit to Florida State. “Coach (Mike) Norvell and Coach (Ron) Dugans, even though I’m committed, they still want to get to know me, recruit me and build a relationship because anything could happen. Coach (Brian) Hartline could get a job in the NFL, coaches could get fired, really anything could happen.

“The visit went well all around and I had a great time out there.”

Norvell left big impression on Smith

Florida State currently holds the No. 12 class in the On3 Industry Team Rankings. The Seminoles have vastly improved as a program under Norvell, and how he runs his program stood out to Smith.

“Coach Norvell is a passionate guy who loves the game of football just like me,” Smith said. “He loves to compete and told me that if I come up there, I’ll be working hard. I love to work hard and I love to be challenged so I really like that about him.

“The way we were talking in his office, he was telling me that they need me and that I’m a program changer. He said that I could come in, change the program and win a national title with them if they build the right class.”

Florida State building loaded offensive class

Five wide receivers have already committed to the Seminoles in the 2024 class, including four blue-chip recruits. Olney (Md.) Good Counsel four-star receiver Elijah Moore, Miami (Fla.) Central four-star receiver Lawayne McCoy, Fort Myers (Fla.) Dunbar four-star receiver Tawaski Abrams, Rochelle (Ga.) Wilcox County four-star receiver BJ Gibson and Lake City (Fla.) Columbia three-star receiver Camdon Frier have all pledged to Florida State.

Other blue-chip commits include the Seminoles’ lone five-star in the class, Moultrie (Ga.) Colquitt County tight end Landen Thomas. Top-100 commits Savannah (Ga.) Benedictine Military School quarterback Luke Kromenhoek and Albany (Ga.) Dougherty running back Kam Davis are also part of a stacked offensive class in Tallahassee.
