Ohio State CB signee Devin Sanchez ranked No. 19 in final 2025 On300 rankings
After putting the nation’s best defense on the field this fall en route to a national championship, Ohio State has restocked the cupboard once again with a talented group of prospects in its 2025 class. Houston North Shore cornerback Devin Sanchez is one of America’s best defensive backs, and he is a five-star prospect ranked No. 19 overall in the final 2025 On300 rankings on Thursday.
The final edition of the 2025 On300 features 32 five-star prospects, up from 25 in the previous update in November.
Since Sanchez committed to Ohio State in January 2024, he has been locked in with the Buckeyes. An active recruiter for the class, Sanchez was vocal on and off social media throughout the cycle as he helped pitch the Scarlet and Gray to fellow recruits.
“I knew after I took my first visit out to Ohio,” Sanchez told On3 about his commitment. “It was fun seeing what they do, and it all came to me after my visit for the Penn State game. I knew it was real when I didn’t go to Alabama and LSU weeks later. I thought to myself — what am I holding out for? Why wait?”
Sanchez’s relationship with Tim Walton — and Walton’s relationship with Devin’s family — is particularly strong.
“He’s really like my dad, I would say, they really love football and he knows what he’s talking about,” Sanchez told Lettermen Row about Walton. “So, I mean, just the relationship that we have is it just clicked from the jump and I’ve been out there like six times now so it’s just every time I go the relationship is stronger. Now when we talk on the phone, it’s not just all about football it’s about other things, you know, outside of football, outside of life.”

Sanchez could have an immediate impact in Columbus
On3’s scouting and rankings team compared Sanchez to New England Patriots defensive back Christian Gonzalez.
“Devin Sanchez’s high-end combination of size, length and top-end speed reminds us of Christian Gonzalez. Both have similar stature, length and athleticism at the same stage. Gonzalez was thicker and played more on offense and special teams, while Sanchez is more polished as a corner at the same stage.”
On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power writes this about Sanchez as a prospect:
“Tall, athletic cornerback who boasts the most refined coverage skill set among top defensive backs in the 2025 cycle. Measured at 6-foot-2, 180 pounds with 32-inch arms at the On3 Elite Series prior to his senior season. Touts a strong size and speed combination, running 10.69 seconds in the 100 meters as a junior…
“…Comfortable in working on an island in man coverage. Has smooth and technical footwork. Shows instincts and ball skills. Does a great job staying attached on vertical routes. Even when he gives up a catch, still manages to be in good position. A one-way, specialized cornerback prospect. Will need to add physicality to his game as he tends to shy away from contact as a tackler. High-end traits and polish make him the safest bet in coverage in the cycle with his ceiling likely to be determined by his development as a run defender and open field tackler.”
