Alabama’s loss is Ohio State’s gain, as the Buckeyes have retaken the No. 1 overall class in the On3 Industry Football Team Recruiting Rankings after the Tide saw five-star receiver Caleb Cunningham flip to Ole Miss.

Ryan Day and Co. had the No. 1 class until mid-October, when a number of rankings bumps pushed Alabama to the top of the heap. But the two schools have been neck-and-neck for most of the cycle, with the Buckeyes now taking the lead three weeks before National Signing Day on December 4.

Cunningham’s decommitment drops Alabama to No. 2, and they’ll have to hold off the likes of Georgia and LSU as they look to make late five-star additions to their classes.

As for the Buckeyes, their group is headlined by Five-Star Plus+ prospects Tavien St. Clair, Devin Sanchez, and Na’eem Offord.

In total, they hold commitments from nine of the nation’s top 100 prospects, and 21 of their 26 commitments are rated as either four- or five-star recruits in the On3 Industry Ranking.

Defensive coordinator Jim Knowles boast one of — if not the best — classes on that side of the ball this cycle. In addition to cornerbacks Sanchez and Offord, the Scarlet and Gray also has commitments from linebacker Riley Pettijohn (No. 40 overall), safety Faheem Delane (No. 50), EDGE Zahir Mathis (No. 76), EDGE Zion Grady (No. 112) and linebacker Tarvos Alford (No. 129).
