The first spring practice of the year for Ohio State is underway and plenty of intriguing prospects are attending in Columbus. That includes Delaware (Ohio) Hayes four-star running back Favour Akih, a top-10 player in the Buckeye State in the 2026 cycle.

The 5-foot-11, 185-pounder has been on campus before, but his trip on Monday was a special one, as he finally landed an offer from head coach Ryan Day, running backs coach Carlos Locklyn and OSU on Monday:

When speaking with Lettermen Row last month, Akih noted that landing an offer from the Buckeyes would be “a blessing and a long time coming.” While he’s just now picking up the offer, Akih has already been getting to know Locklyn.

“I mean, he wants to recruit me hard. He’s recruiting me hard, talking to me every single day,” Akih said.

The Buckeyes are right in Akih’s backyard. They’ll quickly vault toward the top of his list, joining the likes of Miami, USC, Pitt and Michigan State.

Akih is the No. 214 overall prospect and No. 18 RB in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 8 player in Ohio.

As a junior last season, Akih rushed for 1,653 yards and 15 touchdowns, per MaxPreps. He also caught nine passes for 142 yards and three scores. The blue-chipper also doubles as a linebacker for Hayes High.

Looking at Ohio State’s 2026 class thus far

The Buckeyes currently have five commits in their 2026 class, which ranks No. 6 in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. Headlining the pledge list is Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei five-star wide receiver Chris Henry Jr., the No. 14 recruit in the cycle.

Henry has been committed since July 28, 2023, and while Oregon continues to push for a flip, he remains locked in with Brian Hartline and Co. He’s also the No. 2 wideout in the nation.

Avon Lake (Ohio) four-star interior offensive lineman Max Riley is the latest to join the class and ranks as the No. 133 recruit and No. 8 IOL overall. Avon (Ohio) four-star athlete Jakob Weatherspoon is a top-200 recruit, while Pataskala (Ohio) Watkins Memorial four-star WR Jaeden Ricketts is a top-30 receiver in the On300.

Jacksonville Bolles School three-star tight end Corbyn Fordham rounds out the class as a top-400 recruit. He and Ricketts each committed back in November.
