Port Saint Lucie (Fla.) Vero Beach four-star linebacker Tarvos Alford stayed in the Sunshine State this weekend for an official visit to Florida State.

This official visit was initially scheduled for earlier this summer before being rescheduled.

Alford committed to Ohio State over Miami on March 30, but the Seminoles have maintained a relationship with Alford throughout the process. Still, it may be difficult for anyone to flip Alford away from the Buckeyes, according to On3’s Steve Wiltfong.

Alford discussed his recruitment with Warchant in June, touching on what he thought the ‘Noles needed to do to possibly change his mind.

“Really just be themselves,” he said. “I’m really big on what you see is what you get. Be themselves, and if I feel comfortable, then that’s good. … I’m just taking my visits, just seeing around. I still feel good about where I’m at, but I’m just taking them, seeing around, making sure.”

Florida State hired defensive analyst Ernie Sims this spring, which Alford noted as a positive.

“Ernie Sims is my guy, he’s been recruiting me for a long time,” Alford said. “Recruiting me when he was at USF, recruiting me when he was at UCF and now he’s recruiting me here. We just have got a good relationship. I feel like wherever he goes, he’s coming after me. So we really have that tight-knit relationship.”

Alford is the nation’s No. 68 overall prospect, No. 4 linebacker and No. 10 recruit from Florida in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Florida State is facing Memphis this afternoon. The Seminoles are 0-2 this season following losses to Georgia Tech and Boston College. The game kicks off at Noon ET on ESPN.
