Five-Star Plus+ CB Devin Sanchez signs with Ohio State
The top defensive commitment in Ohio State‘s 2025 recruiting class is officially a Buckeye.
Five-Star Plus+ cornerback Devin Sanchez out of Houston (Texas) North Shore signed with OSU on Wednesday, the first day of the Early Signing Period. Sanchez had been one of the program’s longest-tenured commits, dating back to January 2024 when he chose the Buckeyes over Alabama, Texas and others.
He never wavered in his commitment and largely didn’t consider any other schools for the rest of his process prior to signing.
“I’m very locked in [and] I think they should put very hard commitment next to my name, because I’m not gonna be flipped in no time soon,” Sanchez told Lettermen Row at the On3 Elite Series in late May. “I think I’m probably one of the top guys that people don’t have to worry about flipping.”

The 6-foot-2, 180-pounder is the No. 7 overall prospect in the 2025 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also ranks as the nation’s No. 1 cornerback and the No. 3 recruit in the Lone Star State.
Scout’s Take on Devin Sanchez
On3’s Scouting and Rankings team writes this about him as a prospect:
“Sanchez is a tall, athletic cornerback who boasts the most refined coverage skill set among top defensive backs in the 2025 cycle. Measured at 6-foot-2, 180 pounds with 32-inch arms at the On3 Elite Series prior to his senior season. Touts a strong size and speed combination, running 10.69 seconds in the 100 meters as a junior. A lockdown defender while playing for the top high school program in Houston. Not targeted often, but makes plays on the ball at a very high rate. Finished with 11 pass breakups and five interceptions as a junior. Comfortable in working on an island in man coverage. Has smooth and technical footwork. Shows instincts and ball skills. Does a great job staying attached on vertical routes. Even when he gives up a catch, still manages to be in good position.”
