Former Ohio State offensive lineman George Fitzpatrick is heading to the Big 12. Fitzpatrick has signed with Kansas State, On3 has learned.

Fitzpatrick is joining the Kansas State program after entering the transfer portal in early January. He stayed with the Buckeyes throughout the College Football Playoff and saw action in 15 of 16 games this season, including the national championship win over Notre Dame.

Fitzpatrick arrived in Columbus as a member of the Buckeyes’ 2022 recruiting class. He would go on to redshirt that season before appearing in three games the following year.

As a recruit, Fitzpatrick was a four-star prospect out of Cherry Creek (CO) High School in the 2022 class. He ranked as the No. 228 overall player and No. 13 offensive tackle in the cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

He is now joining a Kansas State program that finished the 2024 season with a 9-4 record. That included a win over Rutgers in the Rate Bowl. The Wildcats are expected to contend for a Big 12 title in 2025. Fitzpatrick is hoping to be a big part of that.

Kansas State also landed Alabama transfer EDGE Jayshawn Ross

In addition to George Fitzpatrick, Kansas State also picked up another big-time player out of the transfer portal earlier this month in Jayshawn Ross.

Ross is heading to Kansas State after spending just one season at Alabama. He appeared in one game against Mercer in mid-November but did not record any statistics on defense. Ross is a Kansas City, Missouri native who is returning to the Midwest to continue his college football career with the Wildcats.

Prior to signing with Alabama, Ross played high school football at Liberty North. He was the No. 144 overall recruit there as a four-star in the 2024 cycle. He also rated as a Top-20 EDGE in the class and the No. 6 player out of the state of Missouri

Ross finished his senior season of high school with 23 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and eight sacks. He also spent time on offense, catching 12 passes for 254 yards and four touchdowns.
