WATCH: Ohio State vs Georgia ends in dramatic fashion
Fans couldn’t have asked for more from the College Football Playoff semifinals on Saturday, as both games came down to the final seconds. That included a crazy ending between Georgia and Ohio State in the Peach Bowl, which saw the Buckeyes have a shot at a game-winning field goal after a huge run from quarterback CJ Stroud.
However, as Ohio State kicker Noah Ruggles lined up for the 50-yard attempt, things went awry for the Buckeyes. Ruggles’ kick was nowhere close to going through the uprights, hooking to the left as the Bulldogs held on for the 42-41 victory to advance to national championship for the second straight season.
The Bulldogs found themselves trailing 38-24 heading into the fourth quarter, but opened the scoring in the quarter with a field goal to cut the deficit. Later that quarter, Stetson Bennett connected with Arian Smith on a 76-yard touchdown, then completed the two-point conversion to make it a three-point game.
Ohio State answered that touchdown with a field goal to make it a six-point game, but the Bulldogs weren’t done. Bennett once again led his team on a five-play, 72-yard touchdown drive capped by a 10-yard pass to AD Mitchell to go ahead for good.

Bennett finished the game 23-of-34 passing for 398 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. Now thanks to the dramatic win against Ohio State, he’ll have a chance to lead Georgia to back-to-back national championships after also leading them on a comeback against Alabama last season.
Georgia will face TCU, which defeated Michigan 51-45 in the first semifinal of the day prior to the game between the Buckeyes and Bulldogs, in the title game this season. Kickoff for the game is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on Jan. 9 at SoFi Stadium in Los Angles, California.
